Investigator, Cardiovascular Research and Regenerative MedicineThe Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute (FCVRI) at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. Applicants should have a MD (BC/BE in Cardiology) and/or PhD. Candidates with research interests in regenerative medicine, gene therapy, stem cell biology, proteomics, and translational research are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates at the Associate and Professor levels are expected to maintain a robust NIH-funded laboratory and contribute to the visibility of FCVRI through publications in high-impact life sciences journals. Losordo, MD Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Obesity-Related Cardiovascular Diseases and Type 2 DiabetesFeinberg Cardiovascular Research institute (FCVRI) at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a postdoctoral research fellow with an interest in obesity-related thrombosis, heart failure and/or type 2 diabetes, in the laboratory of Douglas Vaughan, MD and Bart De Taeye, PharmD, PhD. The research in the laboratory focuses on Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase (sEH). The goal of current research projects is i) to understand the role of these molecules in the development of thrombosis, heart failure and type 2 diabetes, more specifically in the setting of diet-induced obesity and ii) to bring currently available PAI-1 and sEH inhibitors from the bench to the clinic. To achieve these goals we use animal and cell culture models, standard molecular biology techniques and analytical methods such as HPLC. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a life science discipline and expertise in cardiovascular and/or metabolic research. Expertise in cell and molecular biology is preferred. Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Cardiovascular BiologyPostdoctoral positions are available to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms controlling cardiovascular development using mouse models and stem cell-based approaches, in the laboratory of Dr. Tsutomu Kume. We are particularly interested in understanding the formation and differentiation of cardiovascular progenitors in development and disease and the role of Foxc transcription factors in this process. Potential candidates should have strong expertise in molecular/cell biology or developmental biology.
