Bart De Taeye, PhD Research Assistant Professor
Bart De Taeye graduated as a Pharmacist at the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven, Belgium. He went on to obtain his PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven. During this period he also earned a Postgraduate degree in Business Economics at the Graduate School of Business Studies at the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven. Bart completed his postdoctoral research training in the Division of Cardiology at Vanderbilt University from 2004 – 2007. In 2007 he became a faculty member at Vanderbilt University before joining Northwestern’s faculty in August 2008. Bart’s research focuses on the role of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 in the development of obesity and diabetes. In addition, he investigates the role of Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase in the metabolic syndrome. He is a member of the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, The American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, The International Society for Fibrinolysis and Proteolysis and the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
